Base for ceramic elements – chimney base
The construction of the chimney shall begin from filling the first chimney block with concrete. This operation is performed for several reasons:1. The block filled with concrete provides a solid support for the chimney system to be installed on it.
2. This enables to level the surface, on which the chimney is installed, what is very important at the beginning of the construction works.
It is extremely important especially in relation to the correct (vertical) mounting of ceramic elements. Properly prepared level gives us the guarantee of proper mounting of ceramic elements.
3. This eliminates the risk of filling or blocking the hole for a ventilation grille and not draining accumulated condensate or rain water. Properly laid chimney shall be started on the foundation, at the lean concrete level.
Installation of chimney system that does not include filling of the first block with concrete, leads to clogging of the ventilation inlet. This prevents ventilation of insulating wool thus leading to moisture accumulation and the loss of insulating properties of the wool. On the other hand, this negligence makes more difficult or even impossible to drain the condensate, as the outlet from the reservoir is below the level of the floor.
The application of this rule makes a chimney to be functional.
Not blocked ventilation grille allows ventilation of the wool insulation, and properly installed reservoir gives us the possibility to drain condensate and rainwater.
The only objective disadvantage of this solution is the loss of up to two working days, due to the necessity of waiting for the concrete, which is filled into the block, to cure. To meet the expectations mainly of construction companies as well as private investors in connection with the ever increasing need to increase the work productivity, we have introduced a solution eliminating this problem.
